Why Every Red Nose Makes a Difference

What connects Laureus Sport for Good and a Red Nose? The answer is a belief in the power of sport to improve the lives of youth around the world – including in your own backyard – and play a role in ending poverty, changing lives and uniting communities.

Today, May 23rd, is the fifth edition of Red Nose Day – a fundraising campaign that has already raised more than $150 million to support programs around the world that keep children safe, healthy, and educated. The organization Comic Relief has used its signature Red Noses and the #NosesOn appeal to unite celebrities, broadcasters, brands, and the general public around the belief that whatever our personal situation, we can all give something back to those in need.

Red Nose Day supports a range of partners tackling child poverty in a number of ways – from vaccinations to homeless shelters, and from food banks to supporting education. At Laureus Sport for Good,  we are proud to have been a grant partner of Red Nose Day for the past three years, using the funds received to help hundreds of thousands of children around the world to overcome the challenges of violence, discrimination, and disadvantage.

Since our founding in 2002, Laureus Sport for Good has raised more than $100 million to help children and young people. Laureus currently supports more than 160 community programs in 40 countries around the world. Here in the United States, that means funding 50 programs in the country’s most underserved communities. The support of Red Nose Day helps us to reach more youth than we ever have before. So when you wear your Red Nose today, you are helping to support our mission, and should be proud to play an important role in ending child poverty.
